what's important in life?

seeing to the end a building u've designed, put in thousands of hours labouring over drawings, finally built?
taking the exam and getting the paper that allows you to legally call yourself an architect?
everytime i fall ill and get rest days off work
my mind starts wondering and questions like these always pop up
i so relish spending day time in our house
tending to my plants, cleaning the house, tidying the mess,
i even thought of baking! i used to bake ginger bread cookies, bread loaves, pizza bases...

life's like that isn't it...
if i do make it a full time job to be housewife
such domestic activities might soon bore me & evolve into chores...

but for now, i really feel so tempted to let go off everything
(imagining myself unclenching my tightly clenched fists,
and everything falling off one by one)
and just do the things that i enjoy
not checking shop drawings, worrying if things are built correctly,
not self-doubting if it will turn out good,
not having to argue with incompetent lazy contractors,
not having to manage everyone's expectations,
appease those lofty foreign consultants...

i really just want to sit and read inspiring books,
(just finished reading alligators, old mink, new money)
package, manage & perhaps making into business mum's tatting & baking,
giving new leases of life to old unwanted furniture,
open a cafe/florist/retail shop,
enjoying a cup of good coffee in the afternoon, in a nice cafe, & reading

i need some courage.

hey girl, know exactly how you feel. every single sentence that you just blogged describes how i felt almost a year ago! since then, i don't regret my decision at all and the break has really given me a chance to gain back my sanity, my physical/ mental/ emotional well-being. i feel "healed" and at peace, something i have not felt ever since i started work 5 yrs ago!

anyway just wanted to encourage you to follow your dreams (if $$ permits) because life's too short! but i'm glad u decided to finish the bldg as i think it will be a major milestone in your life, whatever you decide to do after that, so go for it! whatever happens, u'll have my support!!! if you open a flower shop i'll make sure tx buys lots of flowers from you... for me! :)
