he was a good man

attended the funeral of a good man yesterday
quiet and genteel elder heng was a kind and unassumig elder
the gentlest person i've come across
although i've not had direct contact w him,
only w his granddaughter who's a dear friend,
he was always there to shake our hands at the end of service
i would always choose the queue to shake his hands instead of the pastors
(not that the pastors were mean, they just made me feel guilty =p)
& elder heng would always shake your hands gently with a slight and sincere smile
it always felt nice and comforting
today's sermon "count your blessings" was a tribute to him
closing song was a song i loved "make me a blessing"
(out in the highways and byways of life
many are weary and sad
carry the sunshine where darkness if rife
making the sorrowing glad..."

somehow his presence hung in the air throughout the entire service
and i feel priviledged to have met such an exemplary man in my life

count your many blessings

Thanks for the personal story of a life personified by the gospel song "Make Me a Blessing." God's blessings are made to be shared. As the Lord said to Abraham, "I will bless you...and you shall be a blessing" (Gen. 12:2).

Today is the 129th anniversary of the birth of that hymn's author, Ira Wilson. To learn more about him, check out my blog today at Wordwise Hymns. God bless.
